On many of the Greek islands there is little room for graveyards. The local dead are buried for one or two years, then the bones are retrieved and placed in a box.

This structure on the Greek island of Amorgos is fairly small, but held about 250 grave boxes, and yet was only about one quarter full.

I combined the building with a geranium plant, showing one half vital, the other half wilting. In the background the terraced fields, common on the islands, are suggested.
